Let's Celebrate In Style...

Offbeat Entertainment is a Bristol based mobile DJ business whose sole purpose is to deliver exceptional wedding reception parties for couples looking for something truly memorable and stand-out.

Now in it’s tenth year, Offbeat has become one of the essential wedding suppliers in Gloucestershire, Somerset and throughout the South-West, regularly playing at the very best wedding venues the region has to offer.

If you’re looking for someone who enjoys going the extra mile and shattering your expectations of wedding DJing, you’ve come to the right place...

About the DJ

I started DJing in 2007 after leaving my graduate sales job in London to pursue my dream of making large crowds of people dance. After picking up regular work around the bars and clubs of Exeter playing funk, soul and hip-hop, I gained residencies at nights in Bristol, Bournemouth and London (particularly in Shoreditch and Brixton), building a reputation for multi-genre party sets, and particularly in Electro-Swing, 20’s and 30’s swing sampled music for a more modern crowd. It is within this genre that I have gained bookings all over the UK and even abroad in Paris, Malta, Portugal and Croatia. My prominence within this scene has even seen me perform headline sets at many festivals including the legendary Boomtown and Bestival on the Isle of Wight, as well as the O2 Arena in London's docklands.

My main residency now is for The Electric Empire, a night that I have seen go from a small pub in New Cross through to The Bussey Building in Peckham and on to The Electric Brixton (formerly known as The Fridge), where I play my own brand of vintage remixed music with a cutting edge sound to packed crowds of up to 1800 people in an old theatre in the heart of southwest London, including support sets for legends such as Grandmaster Flash, Stanton Warriors and Krafty Kuts, on a regular basis. I have amassed 1.8k fans on my Soundcloud account and my mixes have been listened to and download hundreds of thousands of times all over the world, as well as being supported on some of the most prominent dance music blogs on the web.

More recently I have been playing at Wembley Stadium hospitality, supporting such legends as Fleetwood Mac, Pink, Bon Jovi and even the Spice Girls on their latest tour.

Having been to many of the weddings of my friends and family, and seeing how other DJs in the wedding disco industry performed at receptions, I created Offbeat Entertainment, with a 'start from scratch' approach to cut loose all the tired cliches and general clutter that accompanies many mobile discos and create something based on outstanding sound quality, a simple yet stunning lighting set-up, and of course everything I know about making people dance like there's no tomorrow.

Whether your wedding is to be a stunning, formal occasion, or you're looking for something a little more boutique with a funky twist, I've got everything you need to turn your wedding reception into an unforgettable full-blown party.

However you want it, no one will take your fun more seriously...

Sebastian Bond - Offbeat Entertainment

What makes Offbeat the perfect choice?

It's fair to say that I'm a music geek, having being obsessed with music since I was able to hold my FisherPrice cassette recorder up to the TV to capture music I loved. I probably Shazam about 50 new songs a week from the radio, bars and anywhere else there's music, and I'm constantly adding to my already extensive playlists from countless sources. I'm also passionate about delivering great service but I'm never happier than when I'm behind my decks with a crowd in front of me.

A Unique Performance

A vital part of what makes a party great is how the DJ performs; using mash-ups to breathe new life into forgotten classics, and utilising subtle effects to mix in and out of genres and songs seamlessly. Using imaginative switch-ups and sparingly used scratch techniques to spice things up and make the party unique to you. Creating an atmosphere that makes you and your guests lose themselves for hours on the dance floor...

In any given crowd of people at a wedding there is a party just waiting to be unlocked. Nothing is worse than a group of wedding guests desperately wanting to dance the night away but the DJ can't find the groove that gets them on their feet. Experience is crucial to knowing what people want to hear even before they know it themselves. My finger is constantly on the pulse of what works and what doesn't, giving me all the tools I need to get the party off to a flier and keep it there until the last song of the night.

Sebastian, we don't know where to start. You were absolutely amazing and made our wedding reception the awesome party we always wanted! You read the crowd perfectly - with music that was both cross generational and trans Atlantic! The dance floor was never empty (and you had some great moves of your own!) And the silent disco was absolutely epic. So many of our guests have asked how and where we found you. Offbeat Entertainment was certainly one of the luckiest finds of our wedding! And more than that, you were so responsive and pleasant to work with up to and including the day. In fact, we may have to plan a 1-year anniversary party just to have you DJ again! :) MASSIVE MASSIVE thank you for everything!! Please let us know if we can do anything to help spread the word about Offbeat Entertainment.

Thank you so much for being the best DJ!! We had such a laugh in the morning over all of the ridiculous dance moves and hilarious occurrences during your set. Our guests loved it and so did we. I know we definitely set you a pretty big task to please both sides of our wedding guests who come from very different backgrounds, but you did just that. My friends have all mentioned it was the best set they have ever attended at a wedding- so thank you for setting that bar so high, because they are very picky!

To any couples looking for a belting reception party, Sebastian was such a joy to work with, listening to all of our very specific wants and delivered a night that both us and our guests will look back on fondly. If you are looking for a DJ who is knowledgable, friendly and will give you exactly the feel you are after for your wedding evening, this is your guy!

Wow, where to start?? Firstly 5 stars is not enough to do justice to just how amazing Seb was both on our big day and also in the run up to it. We met to discuss music tastes and from that moment Seb was very proactive and pretty much arranged himself to be where we needed when we needed. It was quite literally effortless!!

On the day itself Seb was there during the day as well as the evening and his choice of background music through our meal and drinks reception was absolutely perfect. We would never have been able to suggest the music genres he played but he saw the venue and the guests and just absolutely nailed it. Again, effortless.

We were torn for our first dance between two very different tracks (a Jamie Lawson song and a drum and bass remix of Hello by Adele). We spoke to Seb and he said he could easily mix one to the other and on the night it was perfect. As soon as our dance finished the dance floor was full for the next 3 hours.

All of our guests were raving about our wedding DJ the following day and we can't thank Seb enough for the service he provided.
Perfect doesn't come close. Epic is almost there but still doesn't do it justice!!!
If anyone wants the perfect wedding DJ then please look no further and just book Seb immediately. I absolutely guarantee you will not regret it!!!

Thanks again Seb!!!!!

“WOW! - What can I say? Me and Ane were sooo nervous about choosing the right DJ for our night, and hearing what so many other mobile DJs had to say when pitching their business to us did very little to allay those fears…

Then we found Offbeat! A 40 minute chat on Skype to Sebastian and we just knew that we had found our man. Clearly utterly passionate and hugely knowledgable about DJing and music, we only had to give him a starting idea for what we wanted and before long we were genuinely excited to have him on board. He was a little higher than our budget initially allowed but for such a crucial part of the night, we didn’t mind reallocating funds to book him.

Everything in the run-up was great, emails and phone calls answered promptly and with great advice from his years of experience. The answer to all our requests and demands was always a resounding “Yes!”.

Needless to say on the night he didn’t disappoint, in fact he totally blew us all away. For the pre-meal tunes on our arrival to go with the champagne and cocktails we served, he hit the nail on the head with a blend of Reggae and Swing, a really uplifting mix that set the tone perfectly. For the cake cutting ceremony he blended all the tunes we gave him to perform a mini-mix and then he seamlessly moved into the first dance, where everyone piled on to the dance floor, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that that is where they stayed for the rest of the night (3am!). Me and my friends were particularly into Drum and Bass at university and when the time was right he launched into this with tremendous skill and enthusiasm. His moves and energy were infectious! My wife is Costa Rican and had a lot of family over and he managed to squeeze in many Dancehall and Latino tracks that had both contingents dancing away together in perfect harmony.

His progression of the night through the genres was perfectly paced and he made sure that no-one was left out. His lighting set-up and fantastic sound system gave us just the atmosphere we were looking for and we are so happy that we found him. He turned the night into a proper party (as opposed to just a ‘wedding disco’) that we’ll never forget.

If you get the chance, just book him, you won’t regret it."

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do you play for? Is there an extra cost if we want music with our meal or want you to stay on later than midnight?

I take the approach that once you’ve booked me for your reception, I’m yours for as long as you need me for. I can only play one wedding a day and there are no extra charges involved for staying on till 2am or even later should the party still be going strong.

Furthermore, should you wish to have a soundtrack to other parts of the day, such as the wedding breakfast, or champagne/canapé reception, then I can provide this again at no extra cost. In fact, you can think of me as your wedding music consultant for the whole day, not just the evening party.

Sounds great! How does the booking process work?

To secure the date I just a need a deposit of 50% to be paid by online transfer or cash paid into my account at any branch of Lloyds. Once that has been received I will confirm it by email and provide a receipt should you need one for insurance purposes or your peace of mind. The deposit is non-refundable for any reason unless I should be unable to perform at your reception due to illness, accident or any other reason within my responsibility, (it’s never happened) in which case all your money shall be returned within 28 days. The remaining 50% of the payment is due one week before the date of your reception (or earlier should you prefer).

We can arrange further consultation closer to the time if useful, after I have received the consultation form back (either as a PDF by email or by post). To view the consultation form just click on the icon here:

You say that you perform at clubs and festivals, does that mean that you’ll be playing more of a 'club' set? I’m not sure that’s what we’re looking for…

No, absolutely not. My career outside of wedding events is something quite separate to what I do at weddings. My absolute priority is to make sure that every last person at your reception has fun dancing to the songs they know and love. However one aspect that sets me apart from the competition is my ability to take my experience of playing at bars, clubs and festivals and transfer those skills (mixing, reading different crowds etc.) to your wedding reception. Furthermore, should you be looking for a certain underground genre set after midnight, then I can cater for that with electro-swing, house, hip-hop or drum and bass (amongst a dozen others) that very few other wedding DJs can provide. But otherwise no, all the music will be very familiar to you and your guests.

How would you describe your style on the decks?

DJing is all about connecting on a personal level with the people in front of you, and crucially bringing an energy into the room that changes with who is dancing and as the night progresses. My carefully curated playlists mean I can get through an enormous number of tracks and selection of genres through my set (without burying my head in a laptop all night), all delivered with a dose of flair and mixing techniques to ensure it all seamlessly integrates into a coherent set. Whether it's sing-a-long classics, head-banging indie, shape-throwing hip-hop, wine-ya-waist dancehall or hands-in-the-air dance tracks, there is no shortage of ideas on where to take the dancefloor and plenty of imaginative changes of direction to switch things up and keep the party going all the way into the night.

What will you be wearing?

I dress much like any other guest at your wedding, with smart trousers, shiny shoes, a white shirt with collar, a tie, perhaps a waistcoat, and often a wool trilby.

Will you be: dashing out for a cigarette every 10 minutes, putting on a mix and disappearing for ages, singing over the top of the music, making awkward jokes on the microphone, turning up with friends or hangers on or getting drunk?

No. DJing requires my absolute full concentration and I make sure that it is you and the music that takes centre stage and that the night is memorable for all the right reasons. My reputation as one of the leading mobile wedding DJ’s in Bristol means everything to me and I am proud to provide my clients with a totally professional service that goes above and beyond what you’re expecting.

How will you deal with requests?

My requests policy is to play the ones that I believe will make people dance and politely 'manage' the ones that I think will kill the dance floor, often by suggesting alternatives. Managing requests can be one of the toughest aspects of being a DJ and experience is vital in this regard. Fortunately I have plenty.

Sound & Lighting

When it comes to my audio equipment I have a number of vital tools at my disposal. The main sound system is a pair of RCF Evox 8, giving an incredibly clear and balanced sound that can cover even a large room or marquee comfortably. If needed I also own a mighty JBL PRX15XLF subwoofer, should the room demand it, that really fills out the low end. You will not be disappointed.

In addition to this system I also own a 12" portable wireless PA speaker that I can use to get sound or music into any part of the venue, so if you want your reception drinks at the far end of the garden, I can provide background music for that. It's also useful for wireless microphone speeches outside where there is no power supply, and also for providing music for the ceremony/signing the registrar when positioning is crucial.

Lighting for a party is so important and my aim is to produce a vibrant, elegant atmosphere that will make you and your guests want to dance in. My lighting stands with moving head beams are versatile in terms of positioning, with no trailing wires or messy scaffolds. This allows for a quick set-up even in less than ideally shaped spaces. Used together with modern LED uplighters that project gorgeous UV colours on to the walls and dance floor, I create something that has more in common with a festival tent rather than a mobile disco. I steer clear of things like scanning lasers, widescreen TVs, 'your name in lights!' type projectors, starlit backdrops or anything else that distracts from the intimacy and beauty of the occasion. For me it's about enhancing the existing character of the venue rather than overwhelming your carefully thought out style or theme.

For DJing I use the flagship Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT, with its enormous functionality allowing me to really express myself fully when mixing off a Macbook giving me every song and playlist at my fingertips.

All of my equipment is of high-end quality and kept in great condition through regular servicing and inspection. I carry plenty of spares for ensuring there are no technical disasters on the night, and I have a PLI (Public Liability Insurance) certificate for up to £10,000,000, a copy of which can be sent to yourselves or the venue on request.
